Dr. Girija Nandan Roy

Dr. Girija N. Roy, 64, a resident of Scotch Plains, NJ,
died on January 23, 2006 at JFK Hospital in Edison. A
service
in his honor was held at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 25
in North Brunswick, NJ at Franklin Memorial Park, with
arrangements by Pettit-Davis Funeral Home (732-388-0038).
Dr. Roy practiced Veterinary Medicine in New Jersey for
27 years. He was the owner of Rahway, Clark and Carteret
Veterinary Hospitals. He was a member of the NJ Board of
Veterinary Examiners and President of the Central Jersey
Emergency Clinic.
Dr. Roy was extremely active in social and political affairs,
as:

President of BJANA (an Indian service organization),
·
Chairman of Federation of Secular India,
·
President of Forum for Political Education,
·
Member of the Board of Trustees for the Hindu Center in Flushing,
NY,
·
Founding member of the Hindu Temple in Raleigh, NC,
·
Member of Rotary International, and
·
Member of Scotch Plains Republican Club.
Born in Kothwan, Bihar, India; Dr. Roy immigrated to New
York City in 1971 before moving to New Jersey in 1976 where
he remained a life-long resident. He was a devoted Husband,
loving Father, cherished Uncle, revered Grandfather, and
treasured Friend. He is survived by Shanti Roy, his wife
of 50 years, daughters Suman Jalaj and Nilam Roy, sons Mukesh,
Pryia, Ranjan, Amrit, and Akshay, ten grandchildren, and
wonderful nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory
to the JFK Medical Center Foundation, c/o 6- Alton Way, Scotch
Plains, NJ 07076.
